I am a licensed psychotherapist passionate about helping adults navigate, grow, and heal through their mental health struggles. My practice is focused on treating clients with issues and concerns relating to anxiety, a history of trauma (single incident and complex), relationship break-ups/marital divorce, recovery from NPD abuse, stress management, and life-transitions. I utilize an integrative and holistic approach consisting of evidenced-based therapeutic models and practices which I have found to be most successful treating the issues that my clients bring to sessions. My clients have noted that I provide a genuine, comfortable, and safe place for processing and healing
Experience and Skills
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from University of North Alabama, a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. My clinical career began with providing services to children, adults, and families who were navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions or had experienced extremely challenging and traumatic events. While working with severe cases of abuse, neglect, and other forms of trauma, I found myself eager to learn. Through extensive training and clinical experience, it became apparent how complex the lasting effects of trauma can be and the importance of approaching clients from a mind-body and holistic perspective.
Understanding how trauma, life experiences, and our memories impact our brains, where and how our memories are stored, and how healing can change or strengthen neural networks is a significant angle of the healing process. By evaluating relevant aspects of wellness in addition to utilizing evidenced-based treatment models such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), I am able to provide a thorough, eclectic therapeutic approach that is skillfully determined by the needs and desired goals of each client. I am EMDR trained and am currently seeking EMDRIA certification in EMDR. I've dedicated myself to researching and applying evidenced-based treatments to ensure I am competent and prepared to help my clients through their journey of healing.
I set a weekly intention to set aside time for leisure activities that are fulfilling and recharging so I can be present and available for my clients. Being enrolled in or attending activities under the mindfulness umbrella to challenge or strengthen my practice (mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) courses, yoga, mindfulness meditations) allows me to live and embody the characteristics I need to genuinely and competently implement these tools into my clinical practice. I also love to spend my time playing beach volleyball competitively, reading, travelling domestically and internationally, visiting art museums, hiking, exploring new places, animals (I'm a pitbull mom), and any cozy coffee shop.
